Volunteer Agreement

Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer for the HER Foundation. If you have experienced HG, we encourage you to consider supporting another woman struggling to survive HG. Below is information you need to read before you agree to volunteer. If you e-mail us requesting we add you to our site, we will assume you have read and agreed to the following.

How To Add Your Name To Our List:

Once you have read the information below, send us your contact information as you want it displayed on our Volunteer list, as well as your phone number for our reference. Occasionally, an e-mail address will not work and we will need an alternate way to contact you. We typically update our Volunteer list every week, so once you send us your contact information, please e-mail us again if you have not been added within this time frame.

Time Required & Difficult Questions:

At any time, please feel free to ask me any questions about the e-mails you get. You are not expected to be an expert on hyperemesis, just a compassionate listener. We don't know at this point how many referrals you will get, but we expect it won't be more than a few a week.

If people ask you questions you are unsure of and you can't find a place to direct them on our site, just forward it to our e-mail: volunteer@hyperemesis.org.

Please ask their permission before you send their e-mails to us or copy another person on them. Please keep in mind that personal details about a contact should never be shared with others (including other volunteers or your friends/family). Confidentiality is very important. If you want to discuss a situation with another person, ask permission first. You may forward any e-mails to me on your behalf if need help answering questions.

Purpose:

This volunteer network is solely for emotional support and encouragement. Our site instructs visitors to please contact a health professional with all medical questions. We have provided a Referral Network of health professionals to help people find care and answers to their specific medical questions. Please avoid giving out medical advice for liability reasons. You can share your experience, however. This is for your protection. The HER Foundation is willing to field medical questions, but try to help them find the info on our site first, so they can print it and take it to their OB — only their OB will have the complete picture of their medical situation. Forward medical questions to my e-mail: kimber@hyperemesis.org if they are urgent and/or you cannot find the answer on our website.

Contact Information:

You can change your preferred contact method (phone/e-mail/fax) anytime by e-mailing us the info you want displayed: webmaster@hyperemesis.org. Don't forget to contact us if your e-mail address changes. Most volunteers choose to list their e-mail address only for privacy reasons. However, you can list any contact method you prefer.

Opting Out:

You can opt out at any time and we will immediately remove your name from our volunteer list. Any e-mails you have not answered can then be forwarded to me or another volunteer. All we ask is that you please respond or forward them within 24 hours, 48 hours on the weekends if needed. Some people are desperate for immediate help as you know.

You can make some wonderful, life-long friends through this organization. Using your HG experience to help another makes something positive of such a difficult time in your life.

Thanks so much for wanting to make a difference.
